Fabric is an inexpensive way to dress up walls and also offers the ability to coordinate with a room's color scheme.
This is an inexpensive way to create fabric wall art that also doubles as a bulletin board. The great thing is that the total cost is only about $15 - depending on the fabric and the size of the foam board that is selected.

DIY Fabric Wall Art/Bulletin Board - cost $15 |
Crate & Barrel Fabric Wall Art |
After we completed our fabric wall art project we saw this similar Crate & Barrel Fabric Art piece 16" x 32" regularly priced at $150 - but on sale at $75.
How to make it...
- Purchase a 2' x 4' piece of foam board insulation (it is non-toxic) from your local home improvement store. One side has print and the other is plain white
- Purchase the fabric of your choice allowing 4 to 6" extra all around (36" x 60" or 1 2/3 yd of 36" wide fabric). We used a lightweight cotton fabric.
- Press the fabric then layout flat with the print side facing down and wrong side up
- Flip the board over and working from the center smooth out any wrinkles, lifting the fabric as needed. The glue is tacky but allows you to work with the fabric lifting and pressing until you have a smooth surface. Once it is smooth flip the board back over and spray the sides and back edges pulling the fabric tight. I did the long edges first then folded the corners in on the shorter ends (like wrapping a present).
- Attach a picture hook bracket to the back of the board. The ones I used just needed to be pressed in, and I used a drop of glue from a glue gun to secure in place). You may also be able to use picture mounting putty (dependimg on the weight of your fabric).
Use this same method to create a 15 minute $15 headboard for a full size bed.
